Licenses
What each mockup marketplace actually lets you do
Most "royalty-free" confusion comes down to six questions. This matrix answers them per provider, with every cell sourced to the provider's own license page. Where the terms are ambiguous, the cell says Verify — we don't guess. The provider's own Terms of Service is always the authoritative source.
| Provider | Personal use | Commercial use | POD / merch for resale | Resell asset as template | Attribution required | End-product / sales cap |

How to read this
POD / merch for resale is where most licenses diverge: nearly every marketplace lets you sell finished products you made yourself (often up to a cap), but bars true on-demand services where the end customer customizes the template. Placeit is the outlier that explicitly permits merchandising; Adobe Stock and Creative Market gate merch resale behind an Extended license. Resell asset as template is "No" everywhere — redistributing the source file as stock is prohibited across the board.
Disclosure
Creatsy publishes TheLayer. It is listed here under the same six questions and the same sourcing standard as every other provider, with no preferential treatment — that's the point of a matrix. The full relationship is disclosed in the site footer and on our disclosures page.
Caveat
License terms change without notice. Each provider's own official Terms of Service / license page is the sole authoritative source as of the retrieved date (2026-05-31). Verify before relying on any cell — follow the source link in each provider row. Cells marked Verify were ambiguous in the official text and are pending confirmation.
